Dear Joss:

Thank you for (once again) giving the world something that starts out escapist and goofy, and then turns around and skewers you through the heart and haunts you for days. we'd expect no less of you and it's part of why we love you.

(you bastard)

love,
Sarah :)

Yes indeed.
"The Hammer." I screamed with laughter. And the ending - chills.

Yeah, I had "freeze ray" running though my head before I even read your post.

Good stuff indeed. As you know, I am compelled to see all of these stories through the lens of my own life, and I definitely resonate with Dr. Horrible. It's certainly true that to run an evil empire but to be alone is not nearly as much fun as you think before you have the evil empire. As with so much of life, the idea is much better than the execution.

But I take comfort from a divergence between me and Horrible. Horrible made a choice between Penny and Evil very early on, and while the circumstances of the ending could not have been predicted, that ordering of priorities would have meant trouble sooner or later. I have always placed work second, and to the extent to which I have failed to get the girl it has not been for lack of doing everything that my (fairly restrictive) morality will allow. And so Dr. Horrible has regrets, and I have none.

And yes, 45 minutes of superhero silliness really does engender this much musing :P.

Yes yes yes!

I'm obsessed. With every inch of it.

Other people seem to be hating the ending, but I think it's perfect and wouldn't have it any other way.

Everyone keeps talking about this! I haven't watched it yet.

I keep meaning (and forgetting) to say hi, I added you because we share a high school. In fact you tutored me in trig, unless I'm confusing you horribly with someone else.

Hi. :)

re: Dr Horrible - it's a must. especially since you're already a fan of all things Joss. but even if you weren't. :)

So amazing eh? We'll watch it again when you come. ;) And then we'll sing some of it (I pulled off the sound track and have been listening to it religiously). My boots and gloves are on order... wasn't willing to pay $22 for shipping of the googles from the US tho... I'm gonna try and find some locally. ;)

Let me know if you can find a lab coat that buttons at the shoulder. Need!

Ah, yes, I failed to mention the most important part!

That, alas, is being custom made by [info]petranef; however, I suspect she made be enticed into sharing the pattern... we're of similar-enough stature, no?

Yup, I think we're built to fairly similar plans. You may be a little broader at the shoulders, and that may be a critical dimension for this garment.

Does she do commissions? Seriously, my dream is to get this made out of white clean-room ESD-safe fabric so that I can wear it on visits to suppliers' labs.

Are you serious about good googles? I've been thinking for a while that I should make some real steampunk googles. Real brass frame, sapphire lenses, and slot-head screws retaining the bezels. Leather strap and buckle. Do you want some? Why else do I have a machine shop?

It seems entirely possible that she might be interested in commissions. I shall broach it.

Not only would I be mighty excited about the prospect of real steampunk goggles, it also seems entirely likely that [info]petranef might as well -- perhaps a deal could be brokered. ;) I'll e-mail you both.

Haha! I just noticed your consistent typo... "googles". ;) I wonder why that's the first thing to come from your fingers.
